How to Calibrate the Laptop Battery by batteryfast

Laptop battery is very important for laptop especially when users are outside the door. As is known to all that laptop battery life will decline after a long time of use, but if the standby time fails sharply after a short time of use, maybe it is not the normal burn-in of the battery but the BIOS system has a wrong detection of the battery life. At this time, users can do calibration for the laptop to prolong battery life.

There are two methods to calibrate the laptop battery. The first one is to use BIOS. Many laptops have battery calibration function. At first, start the laptop, press”F2” and come to BIOS menu. And then choose “power” menu. Move the cursor onto “Start Battery Calibration” and press “enter”. And the following is to plug in the adapter and charge for the laptop according to the hints on the screen. And later, when the battery is fully charged, you will be told to remove adapter and discharge the battery. You should fully recharge the battery after the battery drain its power. And finally, the calibration is finished.

If we can’t find the calibration option in BIOS system, we can still calibrate the laptop batteries. We can do the calibration by some hand settings. It is not official but useful. Take Windows XP as an example. Choose power supply option and choose always open in the power supply use option and set the standby as never. Cancel all the alarms in the power option to drain the battery. Pull out laptop adapter and drain the laptop battery completely. At last, recharge the battery and complete the calibration once.
But what has to be mentioned is that calibration is not recommended if your battery performs normally.
